A Continuum Model for Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum

The purpose of this resource is to help teachers, school leaders, and curriculum developers to understand the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in classroom learning, teaching, and assessment.

This document is organized into the following six sections:
• Introducing Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum: Section 1 establishes the background and contextual framework for this initiative.
• Supporting Principles: Section 2 discusses the seven principles embedded in Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum.
• Reading the Developmental Continuum for Literacy with ICT: Section 3 outlines the conceptual framework of the continuum and provides a graphic representation of how to interpret it.
• Assessing, Evaluating, and Reporting on Student Progress: Section 4 outlines how to use the Developmental Continuum for Literacy with ICT in assessment FOR/AS/OF learning, in planning instruction, as a goal-setting device, and as a springboard for student-led conversations about evidence of their literacy with ICT.
• Developing the Continuum: Section 5 describes the development and action research processes that led to the continuum.
• Implementing Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum: Section 6 identifies the policy, process, timelines, and the roles of participants involved in various phases of implementation.
